History and description
The house and office of the Darmstadt building contractor Wilhelm Ganss was built in 1894/1895 and 1904.
The front building from 1894/1895 has a historicizing facade in yellow clinker brick with sandstone decor . The structure was damaged in an air raid in 1944 . After the war there was a low level of reconstruction.
The two-storey rear building - an extension of a Wilhelminian style core - was built in 1904 according to plans by the architect Carl Zimmer . The back building received a contemporary redesign of the facade with an Art Nouveau plaster ornamentation and stucco decoration in the risalit . The decorative blue glazed clinker bricks go back to a collaboration with Joseph Maria Olbrich .
