The earthquake Stele Forest from Xichang ( Chinese  西昌地震碑林 , Pinyin Xichang dìzhèn Beilin , English Xichang Earthquake Stele Forest ) is a collection of stelae in the city of Xichang , the capital of the Autonomous Prefecture of Liangshan Yi in the province of Sichuan of China , on which contain data on historical earthquakes .

The stele forest

The stele forest is located in the south of the city on Mount Lushan ( 泸 山 ) in the Buddhist Guangfu Temple ( 光 福寺 ) and comprises over 100 pieces. The stelae show the circumstances of major earthquakes that occurred in Xichang ( 西昌 ), Mianning ( 冕宁 ), Ganluo ( 甘洛 ) and Ningnan ( 宁南 ) of Liangshan der Yi Autonomous District , earthquakes from 1536 (15th century ) . The stele forest is on the list of monuments of the Sichuan province and is next to the stele forest of Xi'an in the province of Shaanxi ( 西安 碑林 ), the stele forest of the Confucius temple of Qufu in Shandong ( 孔庙 碑林 ) and the Dananmen stele forest ( 大 南门碑林 ) in Tainan , Taiwan, is one of the four great Chinese stele forests.
