Eric Boeren

Eric Boeren (born August 22, 1959 in Baarle-Nassau ) is a Dutch jazz musician (trumpet, cornet, composition).

Live and act

As a teenager, Boeren played the euphonium in the brass band of his hometown. From the age of 18 he took part as a cornetist in Arnold Dooijeweerd's workshops , from which the Amsterdams Creatief Ensemble emerged . In the 1980s he worked with the Maarten Altena Ensemble , Willem van Manens Contraband , the Ab Baars Tentett and the Paul Termos Tentett . He became a member of Available Jelly , JC Tans and his Rockets , Sean Bergin's group MOB, and Franky Douglas ' Sunchild . Since 1990 he has been a trumpeter in Michiel Braam's Bik Bent Braam .

In 1993 he founded the quintet Specs , with which he performed his own compositions. In 1995 he organized the series Confronting ... The Music Of Ornette Coleman , in which he performed Ornette Coleman's compositions with his own trio (with Michael Vatcher and Wilbert de Joode ) and a saxophonist as a guest . The focus of Eric Boeren 4tet's repertoire (with Wilbert de Joode, Michael Moore and Han Bennink ), alongside his own, is Coleman's compositions.

Boeren toured all over Europe, USA, Canada, Singapore, Australia and New Zealand (2003, 2006 & 2011). He teaches as a visiting professor at the Utrecht and Arnhem Conservatories, the University of Portland and Lasalle College of Arts in Singapore.
