Éric Deflandre (born August 2, 1973 in Rocourt ) is a former Belgian football player on the position of a right defender .
career
Deflandre first signed with Wandre Union but after a year he joined RFC Liege . He then left him in 1995 for Germinal Ekeren . Deflandre made his debut for the Belgian national team against the Netherlands in the qualifying round for the 1998 World Cup . In 1996 he signed with Club Bruges . In the first game of the 1998 World Cup, he replaced Bertrand Crasson , who covered Boudewijn Zenden , after 22 minutes , and helped Belgium keep the 0-0 draw against the Netherlands. Deflandre later moved to Olympique Lyon in France , where he won three championship titles. In 2004 he returned to Belgium and played for Standard Liège. In July 2007 he moved to FC Brussels , where he played until January 2008 and then moved to KFC Verbroedering Dender EH . From July 2009 to 2010 he played for Lierse SK . Then he let his career end with his former training club RFC Liège until 2012, where he made 25 appearances in the third division in 2010/11 and 27 appearances in the fourth-highest football league in the country in 2011/12. After retiring as an active player, he switched to the youth team of city rivals Standard Liège as a youth coach and has been assistant coach of the professional team there since 2015.

Éric Deflandre has a brother named Jean-Marc Deflandre; he is also active as a football player, albeit in the amateur field.
