Eric Kronberg (born June 7, 1983 in Santa Rosa ) is an American football player who is used as a goalkeeper . He is currently under contract with Montreal Impact .
Career
Kronberg began his career with the Fresno State Bulldogs , where he was active between 2002 and 2003, and the California Golden Bears , where Kronberg was used between 2004 and 2005.
In 2006, Kronberg made the step from the University of California to Major League Soccer . For the 2006 season he was engaged in the MLS SuperDraft by the Kansas City Wizards , now called Sporting Kansas City . In his freshman year he was loaned to Miami FC .
Kronberg played his first game in the MLS on October 23, 2010 against the San Jose Earthquakes , but it was his only game of the 2010 season in which he only played a role as a substitute. He was also a substitute in the 2011 season and made four league appearances in Major League Soccer. In the MLS 2012 and 2013 seasons he was even without any use, in the 2014 season he was finally able to assert himself as a regular goalkeeper at Sporting Kansas City after Jimmy Nielsen had ended his career. He came to 20 league appearances until he broke his finger in July 2010 and could not play any more season games.
Kansas City decided during the 2014 season not to renew their contract with Kronberg. Kronberg therefore switched to Montreal Impact at the beginning of the 2015 season . He was temporarily loaned to FC Montréal in 2015 , for which he was used twice.
