Eric Stuurman (born January 21, 1965 in Oosterhout ) is a Dutch wheelchair tennis player .

Career

Eric Stuurman started wheelchair tennis at the age of 24 and started in the paraplegic class .

He participated in four Paralympic Games . In 1996 he was eliminated from singles in the round of 16 on his debut in Atlanta , and in doubles competition he reached the semi-finals. With Ricky Molier he won the subsequent bronze game against Abde Naili and Laurent Giammartini . At the 2000 Games he only appeared in singles, where he was eliminated again in the second round. In 2004 he reached the second round of the individual competition. In doubles he reached the semi-finals with Robin Ammerlaan , where they were defeated by Michaël Jeremiasz and Lahcen Majdi . They also lost the game for bronze against Anthony Bonaccurso and David Hall . In his recent Games in 2008 in Beijing , he reached the quarterfinals in a double and single in the second round.

At the Wheelchair Tennis Masters in 2000, Eric Stuurman reached the final of the doubles competition for the first time. He and Robin Ammerlaan lost in straight sets to Ricky Molier and Stephen Welch .

In the world rankings, he achieved his best placements in singles with ninth place on September 29, 2003 and in doubles with sixth place on September 6, 1994.
