Erich Breiding

Erich Breiding (born June 11, 1925 in Homberg (Efze) , † April 28, 2009 in Worms ) was a German entrepreneur .

Life

Breiding came to Worms in 1947 after being a prisoner of war and became an employee of 3K Möbelwerke . In 1957 he left the company as an authorized signatory and founded a furniture store , which later became the Rheinmöve Erich Breiding GmbH furniture store . This company, which was one of the leading furniture stores in Germany with a peak turnover of DM 240 million , was headed by Breiding until 1999. After retiring from management, Rheinmöve, renamed a stock corporation, quickly lost market shares and ceased business in 2002 after several insolvency proceedings .

Through his participation in the founding of the purchasing associations, consumer goods wholesale company for apartment and home mbH (Begros), Mondial Einrichtungs Großeinkaufs GmbH and Union purchasing GmbH , Breiding had a lasting impact on the German furniture industry.

In addition to his business activities, Breiding was a sponsor of various projects in the Worms area, including the Worms zoo . Breiding has received several awards for its civic and professional commitment.
