Erich Federschmidt

Erich Herman Federschmidt (born June 14, 1895 in Philadelphia , † February 1962 in Martin County ) was an American rowing athlete .

Erich Federschmidt was the younger but bigger brother of Franz Federschmidt , with whom he competed for the Pennsylvania Barge Club . Her parents were German emigrants. Both brothers began rowing in 1916, but had to interrupt their sporting careers because they were drafted into the US armed forces and participated in the First World War . Erich served in the armed forces medical service and was unable to row in the three years up to 1920. It wasn't until 1920 that he started rowing again like his brother. They qualified with their clubmates Kenneth Myers and Carl Klose for the 1920 Summer Olympics in Antwerp . There the helmsman Sherman Clark joined them. In the four with helmsman, they were only defeated by the Swiss team and won the silver medal. After the games, the brothers moved to the Undine Barge Club . However, Erich ended his career shortly after the move.
