The list is an alphabetical overview of the Westphalian noble families .

The list primarily includes families of the local knighthood nobility , but also dynasts , noble freemen and members of the late medieval patriciate (e.g. hereditary families ) as well as noble families who moved to Westphalia in the sense of the Lower Rhine-Westphalian Empire until the end of the monarchy .
