Erich Kowal

Erich Kowal (born April 18, 1931 in the Weißwasser district ) is a former German functionary of the GDR block party DBD . For many years he was chairman of the Frankfurt (Oder) district board of the DBD.

Life

Kowal, son of a farmer, qualified as a state-certified farmer at an agricultural college and later as a certified teacher for Marxism-Leninism .

In 1951 he joined the Democratic Peasant Party of Germany (DBD). He initially worked in a machine rental station , then as deputy chairman of the Lübben district council for agriculture.

From 1956 he was a full-time functionary of the DBD, as secretary of the Frankfurt (Oder) district board of the DBD, then as head of the organization department of the party board of the DBD. 1966/1967 he was deputy chairman, from 1967 to 1989 finally chairman of the district executive committee Frankfurt (Oder) of the DBD as well as a member of the district assembly . From 1968 to 1990 he was also a member of the party executive committee of the DBD.
