Erich Musselmann

Erich Musselmann (born June 7, 1911 in Helmeringen (manor in the city of Lauingen (Danube) ); † May 31, 1980 in Munich ) was a German farmer, farmer functionary and senator.

Life

Musselmann attended elementary school in Lauingen and the Oberrealschule in Ulm and passed the Abitur. He did an agricultural internship in West Prussia and in his parents' business and then studied agriculture in Munich, Weihenstephan and Göttingen , in 1936 he passed the agricultural diploma examination. During his studies he did other internships in Lower Silesia and the Mark Brandenburg , at the Bavarian State Plant Breeding Institute and at a bank. He later worked as an assistant at the Institute for Arable and Crop Production at the Technical University of Munich and as a research assistant at the agricultural advisory center in Munich for IG Farben Industrie . In World War II he was active as a soldier, was wounded in the process and was held in American captivity. After his release he became operations manager at Gut Helmeringen in June 1945.

From 1957 to 1977 he was President of the Bavarian Farmers' Association in the Swabian District Association , then Honorary President. He was also a board member and later vice-president of the DLG , curator of the Federal Research Institute in Völkenrode near Braunschweig , member of the presidium of the research council for food, agriculture and forestry, member of the board of the AOK Günzburg and from 1963 an honorary citizen of the TH Munich. From 1959 until his death he was a member of the Bavarian Senate . He was awarded the Bavarian Order of Merit on January 13, 1964.
