Erich Wocke
Erich Wocke (* 1863 in Breslau ; † 1941 in Oliva near Danzig ) was a Silesian , German gardener and specialist in alpine plants . Its official botanical author abbreviation is " Wocke ".
Live and act
Wocke played a significant role in the spread of rock gardens in Germany. From 1886 to 1893 he worked under Adolf Engler in Berlin, where he laid out the Alpinum of the new Berlin Botanical Garden , which opened in 1903 . From 1894 to 1898 he was director of the Alpine Experimental Garden in Zurich ; From 1899 to 1929 he was at the castle park in Oliva , where he laid out a state alpine plant garden and most recently held the title of gardening director.
