The Erichhütte is a refuge of the Austrian Alpine Club , Lend-Dienten section in the Berchtesgaden Alps . It is located at 1545 m above sea level. A. Höhe on a mountain pasture southwest below the Hochkönig with a beautiful view of the neighboring Salzburg Slate Alps . The hut is a popular, easily accessible destination and at the same time a valuable base for mountaineers on the Hochkönig. It is the starting point for demanding mountain tours and via ferratas as well as for easy high-altitude hikes. In summer, the Erichhütte is managed continuously and offers a total of 28 beds for overnight stays.
history
The hut, built in 1907, was named after the community doctor von Taxenbach, Dr. Erich Schernthaner (1870–1949), who helped found the Lend-Dienten section in 1894. He was mainly involved in the construction of the hut, did preparatory work, procured building material and took care of the implementation. He was also financially helpful and served as the head of the section until old age.
