Erico Menczer

Erico Menczer (actually: Eric Menczer ; born May 8, 1926 in Rijeka ; † March 10, 2012 in Rome ) was an Italian cameraman .

Life

Menczer, who was forced to Italianize his first name, came to Rome via Padua and Genoa after the Second World War, and thus to film in the early 1950s . As an assistant and member of the camera crew, he initially worked mainly with chief cameraman Gianni di Venanzo . His first film, the documentary Piccolo cabotaggio pittorico , received the Golden Lion in 1952 . The films he worked on in the 1950s, e.g. B. The Friends and The Scream , directed by Michelangelo Antonioni , had greater artistic weight than those in which he was responsible as chief cameraman from 1960.
