Erik Stoffelshaus (born December 14, 1970 in Mülheim an der Ruhr ) is a German football functionary and was most recently sports director of the Russian Premier League club Lokomotiv Moscow .

Career

Youth coach and training

After training as an industrial clerk at Thyssen Stahl AG and studying sports science at the Ruhr University in Bochum , Erik Stoffelshaus became the coach of the U11 / U12 juniors at FC Schalke 04 in 1998 .

Management Schalke 04

In July 2000 he moved from the coaching staff to the management of the club. There he supports Bodo Menze , the manager of the youth department of FC Schalke 04. During his tenure, the youth teams achieved two German championship titles and two DFB cup victories. In 2002, Stoffelshaus acquired the UEFA Trainer A license . In July 2006, Stoffelshaus became team manager of the Schalke licensed players department and assistant to manager Andreas Müller . Among other things, he was jointly responsible for player purchases such as Heiko Westermann , Ivan Rakitić , Jermaine Jones and Jefferson Farfán . His term of office ended on May 26, 2009.

Technical Director in Canada

In November 2013, Stoffelshaus went to Canada and became the technical director of the West Ottawa Soccer Club. In March 2015, he assumed the position of technical director for the York Region Football Association in Toronto.

Sports director at Lokomotiv Moscow

On January 22nd, 2017, Stoffelshaus was introduced as the new sports director of the Russian Premjer League club Lokomotiv Moscow . Just a few months after taking office, Stoffelshaus won its first title with a locomotive. On May 2, 2017, the club won the Russian Cup for the seventh time in the club's history. This qualified the club for the group stage of the UEFA Europa League the following season. There Lokomotiv Moscow failed in the round of 16 at Atlético Madrid , the eventual winner of the competition. In the second season, Stoffelshaus won the second title. On May 5, 2018, the club won the Russian championship for the third time. Stoffelshaus ended his work as sports director at Lokomotiv Moscow on December 31, 2018.

Others

After his time at Schalke, Stoffelshaus obtained his diploma as a sports teacher. In 2018 he obtained the Master of Business Administration in Sports Management from the Universidad Europea de Madrid.
