Erik von Winsen , also Heinrich or Ericus de Winsen , Herb Mora (Polish Eryk z Winsen herbu Mora ; † September 8, 1391 ) was a Franciscan and is considered the first local resident bishop of Przemyśl (from 1377) and organizer of the Roman Catholic diocese of Przemyśl .

He came from Lower Saxony , but worked in Russia early on and understood the Polish language . Until 1378 he was auxiliary bishop in the diocese of Hildesheim . On April 13, 1377 he was by Gregory XI. appointed Bishop of Przemyśl in the ecclesiastical province in Halytsch established two years earlier . The appointment was made under King Ludwig of Poland and Hungary († 1382), who at that time sought the establishment of a separate state in Red Ruthenia that was dependent on the House of Anjou .

Erik von Winsen probably arrived in Przemyśl in 1379 . Although he was nominally the third bishop of Przemyśl, he had to build almost everything from the beginning. Church tax revenues were still too low because of the small percentage of the Roman Catholic population. He strove to increase the diocese's fortune and the settlement of Roman Catholic taxpayers. In 1384 he received the places Brzozów , Cergowa , Domaradz and Równe (in the Sanok region ) and Radymno (in the Przemyśler region ) from the Hungarian Queen Maria . In Krosno he built the episcopal residence, which he often visited. Before his death in 1391, the organization of the diocese practically ended. He doubled the number of Roman Catholic churches to about 40. He was buried in Przemyśl Cathedral.
