Erika Nymgau-Odemar ; actually Viktoria Rafaela Alma Nickau (* 1889 in Leipzig , Saxony , † 1981 in Meran , Italy ; occasionally Erika Nymgau ) was a German actress and voice actress .

Life

Erika Nymgau-Odemar was born as the daughter of the brewery owner Richard Nickau and his wife Johanna.

After attending secondary school , she completed theater training with Hans Mühlhofer in Berlin . The first roles followed at theaters in Leipzig , Bochum and Bremen . In 1913 she appeared at the Altona City Theater in the boy role of Olaf in the play Die Stützen der Gesellschaft by Henrik Ibsen . From 1916 engagements followed at various stages in Berlin. Nymgau-Odemar has repeatedly worked as a stage actress throughout her career, even after the Second World War . In 1955 she had an engagement at the Comedy Berlin .

There is also evidence of a few film appearances by Erika Nymgau-Odemar. Most of the time she was committed to folk characters and matron roles. This type of role included the housekeeper in the love drama The Saints and Her Fool (1935, director: Hans Deppe ), the Italian landlady in the artist drama Künstlerliebe (1935) and, alongside Beniamino Gigli , the housekeeper of the opera tenor Tino Dossi in the Music film Ave Maria (1936, director: Johannes Riemann ). In the children's film Max and Moritz (1956) she played a bigger role than widow Bolte.

Erika Nymgau-Odemar also worked as a voice actress.

She was married to the actor Fritz Odemar . They have a son, the actor and director Erik Ode .
