The commemorative medal of the Chinese campaign ( it. Medaglia commemorativa della campagna in Cina ) was an award of the Kingdom of Italy , which on June 23, 1901 by decree 338 in one stage by King Vittorio Emanuele III. was donated. It was the counterpart to the German China commemorative coin and other distinction from the United Eight States in the course of the armed conflict in East Asia .

Appearance

The round bronze medal , which was awarded with a certificate, has a diameter of 33 mm and shows on its obverse in the middle the head of the donor looking to the right with the inscription VITTORIO EMANUELE III RE D'ITALIA . The lapel of the medal shows two open laurel branches with fruits that are crossed at the bottom and bent upwards, as well as the two-line inscription CINA / 1900-1901 in the middle . Excellent relatives who joined the crew after 1901 also received the medal, but without the year on the back.

Carrying method

The medal was worn over the upper left breast pocket of the recipient on a 37 mm wide yellow ribbon. The tape has a blue border that is 3 mm wide and two vertical central stripes, also blue, 5 mm wide and 10 mm apart. The corresponding strap buckle is of the same quality. Participants in the war wore a gold-colored clasp with the inscription CINA 1900-1901 on the ribbon .
