Lyytinen (2007)

Erja Lyytinen (* 1976 in Kuopio ) is a Finnish Blues - guitarist and singer who also own writing songs and their recordings produced . She is often compared to Bonnie Raitt , especially since they both play slide guitar . Lyytinen's music mixes blues with elements from jazz , pop , R&B and country .

life and career

Erja Lyytinen performed with her parents as a teenager. She sang and played the violin at first , but then decided on the electric guitar . She took lessons at the Pop and Jazz Conservatory and studied jazz at the Sibelius Academy , both in Helsinki .

In 2002 Lyytinen recorded the album Attention! With the band Dave's Special . on. In 2003 she released her first own album, Wildflower . At the Finnish Puistoblues Festival in the same year she was on the program with Koko Taylor and Bonnie Raitt . In 2005 she recorded the album It's a Blessing with guitarist Davide Floreno . For the German blues label Ruf Records she recorded the album Pilgrimage - Mississippi to Memphis with Ian Parker and Aynsley Lister . This was followed by tours in the USA and Europe , with the live DVD Blues Caravan 2006 - The New Generation . The song Dreamland Blues was selected by Sue Foley for her compilation Blues Guitar Women . Since then she has been releasing new albums regularly, her contract with Ruf Records has expired, and she is now releasing her CDs under her own label, Tuohi Records.

Lyytinen is the mother of twin sons (* 2014).
