history

The parish looks back on over 100 years of history. In 1901 the parish work of the Methodist Church in Tegel began. Since the congregation was still very small, the first services were celebrated in private apartments and later in rented apartments. Since the community grew steadily, a former cinema was rented from 1922 and converted into a meeting room for the community. It was not until 1927 that the congregation received its own pastor . Since the free church community did not receive any funds from the Protestant regional church in Prussia or from the public administration , a church building association had to collect this through donations. In 1937, a plot of land in what is now Gorkistraße was bought and a new building was inaugurated just two years later . This too became too small over time and an extension was added in 1960 . With the inauguration of the extension in 1960, the church was named Erlöserkirche. 1968 was Walcker - organ purchased. The current building complex of the community center with kindergarten was finally created in 1992.
