The Erlenbach is a right tributary of the Mindel in the district of Günzburg . Over this it is an indirect right tributary of the Danube in Bavaria .
The source of the Erlenbach is located southeast of the village of Freihalden in the area of the Jettingen-Scheppach market near the border with the neighboring district of Augsburg . From there, the 15 km long stream flows first in a north-westerly direction, then in a north-westerly direction to the confluence with the Mindel near the Riedmühle, southwest of Mindelaltheim . The difference in altitude between the source and the mouth is 86 m.
