The wasteland is about eleven kilometers south of Coburg and one kilometer west of Großheirath an der Itz . The federal highway 4 leads past the place at a distance of about 200 meters.
history
The Erlesmühle was first mentioned in a document in 1303 as "Erellmule bei Hewrit". At that time, the Lords of Heldritt bequeathed the property to Langheim Abbey as a pious foundation . It was a grain mill in which the farmers of the Langheim estates west of the Itz had to have their grain ground.
The mill burned down at least twice. In 1928 the Reißenweber family, owners of the Großheirather Mühle, also acquired the Erlesmühle for use as a water power plant . In 1950, 31 people lived in a house in the Erlesmühle. The Protestant school and the church were in a large marriage , to which the place belonged. In 1987 the wasteland had six residents and a residential building with two apartments.
In 2010 the hydropower plant had an output of 272 kW and an average yield of 768,561 kWh per year. A water volume of a maximum of 11.1 m³ / s may be discharged from the Itz into the power plant.
