Erna Daugaviete

Erna Daugaviete ( Russian Эрна Ивановна Дауговет ; born March 1906 in Latvia , † 1991 in Riga ) was a Soviet - Latvian chemist .

Life

The family was in the First World War in the Far East evacuated . Then Daugaviete lived in the Urals . She studied in Sverdlovsk at the Gorky State University of the Urals in the chemical faculty . During her apprenticeship , the first penicillin production facility in the USSR was put into operation in Sverdlovsk . After completing her apprenticeship in 1946, she was promoted to candidate in chemical sciences.

Daugaviete got a job in Riga in the medicinal products factory . There she became chief technologist in 1947, chief engineer in 1951 and director in 1962 (until 1975).

Daugaviete and others initiated the production of antibiotics in the USSR. Under her direction, the production of Bizillin-1 , Bizillin-3, Oleandomycin, Ampicillin , Eficillin, Griseofulvin and Oletetrin was initiated.

Daugaviete was a deputy and member of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the Latvian SSR (1951–1955) and a member of the XIX. Congress of the CPSU 1952.
