Erna Wiechert
Erna Wiechert (born May 7, 1905 in Sieker (Bielefeld) , † July 24, 1974 in Bielefeld ), née Schlingmann, was a German politician ( SPD ) and resistance fighter against National Socialism.
The daughter from a working-class household worked after elementary school from 1919 onwards in the Dr. August Oetker KG in Bielefeld. From 1922 to 1933 she was an employee in the SPD district association Ostwestfalen-Lippe and organized in the central association of employees . Wiechert attended the Tinz home elementary school for advanced training. During the Nazi era , she was a stenographer in a vulcanized fiber factory in Werder (Havel) . Together with her husband Theodor Wiechert , she participated in the resistance against the NSDAP government. Among other things, she worked with the left-wing socialist Red Shock Troop . On December 18, 1933, Erna Wichert was arrested in her apartment. She was released on March 31, 1934, but was arrested again on April 26 that year. On August 15, 1934, the Berlin Higher Regional Court sentenced her to six months in prison.
After the war she became a consultant in the Wedding District Office in the field of popular education. From 1946 to 1958 she was a district councilor in Berlin-Wedding. Wiechert was briefly a member of the city council of Greater Berlin . She was re-elected from 1963 to 1967 as a member of the Berlin House of Representatives.
