Ernie Hearting (1975)

Ernie Hearting is a pseudonym of the Swiss writer Ernst Herzig (born July 31, 1914 in Langenthal ; † December 29, 1992 in Basel ), under whom he wrote a series of books for young people about the great chiefs of the North American Indians , which he developed based on historical sources . He wanted to set himself apart from the romanticizing Indian novels such as Karl May and Fritz Steuben , which were very popular, but mostly historically imprecise. The series Famous Indians, White Scouts comprised 15 volumes and was first published by Waldstatt Verlag in Einsiedeln between 1949 and 1963, sometimes in several editions. In 1990 Weltbild published a selection of 3 volumes, which was expanded to include a fourth volume in 1992. Some of his books have also been translated into other languages.
