The Ernst Ludwig Pavilion was a building in the Albert Schweitzer facility in Darmstadt .

History and description

The Ernst Ludwig Pavilion was donated by Valentin Justus Noack as the “Ludwigstempel” in 1877 and built in what was then the “Exerzierplatz”. The “plant at the parade ground” was horticultural designed at the time; with exotic vegetation and a small pond.

The pavilion stood on an octagonal floor plan . Thin iron supports supported the light wooden roof structure. The supports were connected by beams with filigree ornaments and arched lower chords . Six parapets were filled with narrow bars. Two parapets were open to entry.

Monument protection

In 1995 the pavilion was destroyed by vandalism . The pavilion was a cultural monument for architectural and city history reasons .
