Ernst Biedermann (born December 21, 1868 in Gotha ; † August 18, 1928 in Jena ) was a German painter, architect and inventor.

He studied painting from 1888 to 1894 at the Karlsruhe Art Academy under Leopold von Kalckreuth and in Weimar under Max Thedy . In 1901 he settled in Jena. In 1903 he was one of the founding members of the Jena Art Association , where he also exhibited regularly. His oil paintings and pastel drawings were influenced by impressionism and art nouveau . In Jena he also designed numerous town houses and villas, including the villa of the physicist Otto Eppenstein . He was also a member of the architecture advisory board of the city of Jena. He also invented the "Tanagra Theater", which was built by the Carl Zeiss company. A copy is now in the Deutsches Museum in Munich . Pictures by Biedermann are in the collection of the Jena Municipal Museums. In 2007 the Villa Schott dedicated an exhibition to him.
