Ernst Erich Buder (born September 2, 1896 in Cottbus ; † January 21, 1962 in Berlin ) was a German composer .
Life
Buder was seriously wounded as a volunteer in the First World War . He later studied conducting and composition at the Berlin Academy of Music with Max Reger and Engelbert Humperdinck . He then worked as Kapellmeister in Vienna , Bucharest and Berlin , among others .
Buder's compositional oeuvre is very diverse, ranging from symphonic poetry to pop music . During the 1930s and 1940s he composed the music for numerous full-length films. He also provided musical accompaniment to over 40 cultural films and other documentaries . Furthermore, songs composed by him can be heard in several films. Among other things, he composed the music for the soldiers ' song Soldiers are Always Soldiers by Herybert Menzel for the Nazi propaganda film Der Westwall in 1935 .
Buder was married to the opera singer Olga Baumgartner; their son Ernst-Erich Buder works as an actor in Hanover .
Buder was buried in the Luisenfriedhof in Berlin-Westend .
