Ernst Faulstich

Ernst Christian Hermann Faulstich (born February 19, 1863 in Gartz (Oder) , † September 5, 1925 in Stralsund ) was a German classical philologist and educator.

Life

After attending grammar schools in Gartz and Neustettin (Michaelis Abitur in 1880), Faulstich first studied law at the University of Leipzig before turning to classical philology and history. His studies took him to the other universities in Jena, Berlin and Greifswald to Kiel, where he passed the state examination in 1889. During his studies in 1881 he became a member of the Leipzig fraternity Germania . He then completed his seminar year at the Wilhelms-Gymnasium in Stettin and the probationary year at the grammar school in his hometown Gartz. He then worked as a private teacher and as a scientific assistant teacher at the grammar schools in Gartz, Stolp, Anklam and Schlawe. At Easter 1899 he took over a substitute position at the Stralsund grammar school , where he became a senior teacher in the same year. In 1913 he was appointed the successor to the late director Wilhelm Hahn and remained rector of the Stralsund grammar school until his death. Under his directorate, a vault in the remter of St. Catherine's monastery collapsed in November 1919 ; the school was then relocated to an alternative quarter on the corner of Frankenwall and Weidendamm. Only after years of security work was she able to return to St. Catherine's Monastery in January 1925. On this occasion Faulstich gave the lecture, which gives an overview of the history of the high school and its building.

He wrote a number of essays as part of the high school's school programs .
