Ernst Ferdinand von Werdeck

Ernst Ferdinand von Werdeck (born August 27, 1687 - † May 17, 1742 near Chotusitz ) was a Prussian major general and chief of the 7th Dragoon Regiment .

Life

Military career

On August 27, 1709 he became a lieutenant in Infantry Regiment No. 19 (Margrave Albrecht), from there he was transferred to the Leibkarabinier Regiment (Margrave Albrecht). Here he became major in 1719, lieutenant colonel in 1730 and colonel in 1738. Actually, as the oldest colonel, he was supposed to take over Regiment No. 11 as the successor to Truchsess von Waldburg , but King Friedrich Wilhelm I gave the regiment to Hermann von Wartensleben . Werdeck came into the body regiment, but in 1741 Major General von Thümen ceded his Dragoon Regiment No. 7 to him and in May 1741 he became Major General. As such he fought in the battle of Chotusitz , where he fell on May 17, 1742.

He previously fought from 1700 to 1712 in the War of the Spanish Succession in Italy, Germany and the Netherlands as well as in the Pomeranian Campaign in 1715/1716 .

family

Ernst Ferdinand von Werdeck's parents were Georg Siegismund Verdeck and his wife Sophia von Kracht . He married Eva Rosine von Salchow († March 16, 1784), daughter of a former vice principal in Sandow. The peerage was her by Frederick William I granted . The couple had a son and several daughters, including:
