Ernst Friedrich Berger

Ernst Friedrich Berger (born May 2, 1814 in Römhild ; † August 13, 1853 in Sickershausen ) was a German landowner and botanist . His botanical author's abbreviation is " Berger ".

Life

Ernst Friedrich Berger founded and ran a plant, barter and sales establishment from 1847 in the former estate of Christian Gottfried Daniel Nees von Esenbeck in Sickershausen near Kitzingen .

On May 11, 1851, he was elected member (matriculation no. 1625) of the Leopoldina with the academic surname Wibel II . He was a member of the Royal Bavarian Botanical Society in Regensburg and the Natural History Association in Nuremberg .

In his honor, Wilhelm Heinrich Schaffner named the plant genus Bergeria W.Schaffner from the skin fern family in 1857 .
