Ernst Götzinger

Ernst Götzinger (born September 23, 1837 in Schaffhausen ; † August 10, 1896 in St. Gallen ) was a Swiss German scholar and historian .

Life

The son of a high school teacher studied philology at the universities of Basel , Bonn and Göttingen . After receiving his doctorate in Göttingen in 1860, he became a teacher at the Cantonal School of St. Gallen . He published a large number of historical and Germanistic writings, including a real dictionary of German antiquities (second edition 1885).

Götzinger worked for the Allgemeine Deutsche Biographie , for which he wrote four articles.
