Johannes Dierauer
Johannes Dierauer (born March 20, 1842 in Berneck SG ; † March 14, 1920 in St. Gallen ) was a Swiss historian .
Life
Johannes Dierauer was born as the son of the farmer Johann Jakob Dierauer and his wife Engelina Hohl in Berneck on March 20, 1842. After being at the Universities of Zurich , Bonn and Paris had studied, he was at the former University 1868 Doctor PhD . In the same year he took over a professorship at the Cantonal School in St. Gallen, which he held until 1907. In 1874 he also became head of the city library , which he remained until his death on March 14, 1920 at the age of 77. He was married to Lisette Brunner from Oberhelfenschwil ; they had two daughters.
Dierauer worked for the Allgemeine Deutsche Biographie , for which he wrote 18 articles.
