Ernst Hartmann (actor)
Ernst Carl Gottfried Hartmann (born January 8, 1844 in Hamburg , † October 10, 1911 in Vienna ) was a castle actor and theater director .
Life
Hartmann decided to become an actor, albeit against the declared will of his mother and guardian. So he first became a volunteer at a machine factory in Chemnitz, then went to the stage impressed by a guest performance by Max Dawison and made his debut in Reval as “Müllerbursche” in Die Schöne Müllerin , then worked as a choir player and batch player . After his mother's death in 1863, his guardian categorically demanded that he find a practical occupation. Only through the intervention of Heinrich Marr was he allowed to become an actor. Marr recommended him to Heinrich Laube at the Burgtheater in Vienna . There he made his debut as "Paul von Scharfeneck".
He played Ibsen , Goethe , Schiller , Grillparzer , plays by Victorien Sardou , Eugène Scribe , Oscar Blumenthal .
From 1880 Hartmann was also a theater director.
