Ernst Joachim Völker (born June 7, 1934 in Stockelsdorf ) is a German acoustician and building physicist .

Life

After graduating from high school in Wismar, Völker studied communications engineering at the Technical University of Berlin from 1954 to 1961 . At the same time he graduated from the Berlin University of Music with a major in double bass and a minor in piano and continued this from 1958 in the field of sound engineer .

His first job brought him to the Hessischer Rundfunk in Frankfurt am Main in 1962 , where he was involved as an acoustician in the construction of the radio and television studios . In 1979 he started his own business with the IAB Institute for Acoustics and Building Physics as a consulting engineer and expert , in particular specializing in concert halls, radio studios and multi-purpose halls. At the same time, he began teaching at the TU Darmstadt in 1979 in the architecture faculty for the field of building physics and was appointed honorary professor in 1989. 1996 peoples has been TU Berlin with the work "On the importance of the first 15ms in the assessment of audio recordings in the control room" doctorate .

Prof. Völker is a member of the NMP standards committee for materials testing at DIN and represents Germany in international standards committees of CEN and ISO . He is a member of numerous specialist agencies, including the German Society for Acoustics (DEGA). He has taken on management tasks at DEGA as chairman of the electroacoustics committee and at AES at the Convention Committy Munich and as chairman of Section Mitte in Germany.

He has published over 200 publications, most of which were associated with lectures at events or congresses.
