Ernst August Jordan (born May 18, 1883 in Magdeburg ; † February 19, 1948 there ) was a German football player .

Career

societies

The trained master painter Ernst Jordan played from 1901 to 1914 for the FuCC Cricket-Viktoria 1897 Magdeburg as a defender and was also called "Langmeier" because of his height of just under 1.90 meters.

In his 13-year club membership, he won five regional championships in a row with his club. Jordan was also one of the best discus throwers in the Middle Elbe region, but with its widths of 33 meters did not come close to the German elite, which at that time already threw the discus up to 40 meters.

National team

He was a member of the team that played the first official international match for the DFB on April 5, 1908 . For this premiere, the two Leipzig defenders Walter Hempel and Heinrich Riso ("Riso I") were placed in the defense ; but Riso injured himself in the week before the international match and so Jordan played for the national team . Unfortunately for him , he headed the first own goal for the German national team in this game, which was lost 3: 5 to the Swiss national team in Basel ; in a contemporary match report he was classified as "very bad".
