Ernst Ludwig Uray
Ernst Ludwig Uray (born April 26, 1906 in Schladming , Styria , † April 6, 1988 in Tamsweg , Salzburg ) was an Austrian composer .
Life
After studying music as a student of the composer Roderich Mojsisovics von Mojsvár from Graz , Uray worked as a music consultant at Radio Wien from 1938 to 1945, after which he was head of the music department of the ORF regional studio in Styria from 1946 to 1971 . 1961–1979 he was President of the Styrian Tonkünstlerbund . Until the end of his life he was in charge of the “Schladminger Musiksommer” and in this role supported young Austrian composers such as Johannes Kern and Alexander Wagendristel .
Works
Uray wrote mainly over 60 songs, piano and chamber music, as well as a symphony, cantatas, orchestral and choral works, melodramas, masses, radio plays, arrangements of folk songs, and film music.
