Ernst Mayer (born June 8, 1901 in Zweibrücken , † December 18, 1952 in Stuttgart ) was a German politician of the FDP / DVP and journalist .

Life

Mayer worked as a political editor in Singen (Hohentwiel) , Ebingen and Pirmasens . As editor-in-chief of the democratic New Albbote he was interned on the Heuberg in 1933 and expelled from Baden . 1934 he was charged with "political unreliability" prohibition issued.

In 1945 he built the LDPD in Saxony . He returned to Württemberg at Christmas 1945 and was co-founder and executive chairman of the Liberals, known there as the Democratic People's Party (DVP) , and a member of the board of the FDP in the western zones. In the short-lived Democratic Party of Germany (DPD), the merger of the West German FDP and East German LDPD, he was managing director together with Arthur Lieutenant (LDPD). He was a member of the German Bundestag from the first election in 1949 until his death. From May 6, 1952, he was deputy group chairman.

Mayer was editor of the free democratic correspondence (fdk) from 1950 to 1952 .
