Ernst Meier (born June 7, 1897 in Weisslingen , † January 29, 1979 in Baden AG ), entitled to live in Einsiedeln , was a Swiss politician ( KVP ) and a trade unionist .

Family and work

Ernst Meier, son of the shoemaker Josef Zeno Meier and Elisabetha née Wintsch, completed an apprenticeship as a machine fitter at Brown, Boveri & Cie. (BBC) in Baden. There he was employed as a foreman from 1917 onwards, in 1927 Meier switched to the Aargau Association of Christian Social Workers' Organizations as secretary, and in 1938 he was appointed district secretary of the Christian Metalworkers Association of Switzerland , of which he was president from 1945 to 1964.

In addition, Ernst Meier chaired the Baden section of the Christian Metalworkers 'Association from 1918, the Aargau Association of Christian Social Workers' Organizations from 1948 to 1963 and the Christian Social Movement in Switzerland from 1957 to 1967. Ernst Meier was represented on the boards of the Christian National Trade Union Federation of Switzerland and the International Federation of Christian Metalworkers' Organizations.

Ernst Meier, who married Bertha, born in Würenlos , in 1929 , died in 1979 at the age of 81 in Baden.

Political functions

Ernst Meier, who joined the Swiss Conservative People's Party (KVP), was a member of the Aargau Grand Council from 1929 to 1949 . In 1942 the people elected him to the National Council , in which he sat until 1963.
