Ernst Oberdörster

Ernst Oberdörster (born April 6, 1888 in Opladen ; † September 19, 1972 in Berlin ) was a German communist resistance fighter against National Socialism , member of the state parliament in the Rhineland and the Free State of Prussia , prisoner in the Sonnenburg concentration camp , party functionary (KPD / SED) and Head of the consumer cooperative in the state of Berlin .

Life

The son of a worker learned after visiting the elementary school the profession of painter's and was a member of the union . In 1909 he joined the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD) and moved from there to the USPD in 1916 . From 1920 to 1922 he worked as a union secretary. In 1920 he joined the Communist Party of Germany (KPD). From 1923 he was a full-time functionary org.-secretary of the KPD in the Lower Rhine district. Oberdörster became a member of the Rhineland Provincial Parliament in 1926 . In 1928 he was elected with the mandate of the KPD as a member of the Landtag of the Free State of Prussia in his third electoral term. From 1929 he worked as an employee and secretary for cooperative issues in the central committee of the KPD . In 1932 he became Reichsleiter of the International Workers Aid (IAH). Oberdörster was there u. a. also concerned with the preparation of the presidential elections. In 1932, for example, he wrote a poster with the title “Warning call - We choose Thälmann !”, Which he, already living in Berlin , had produced in a local print shop. At the same time he campaigned for international workers' aid.

After the transfer of power to the NSDAP in 1933, he was arrested several times and interned in the Sonnenburg concentration camp.

When the Nazi rule was eliminated in 1945, he worked in the re-established KPD and from 1946 in the Socialist Unity Party of Germany (SED). On their behalf, he organized the work of the consumer cooperative of the State of Berlin and was at the same time an employee of the SED Central Committee for food issues . The SED temporarily banned him from working. Since 1947 he worked with the publication of the magazine Dieversorgung . He later worked as a speaker at VEB Lebensmittelimport .

Oberdörster was married to Katharina Flecken and the father of Friedrich Oberdörster , who was a professor at the Wilhelm Pieck University of Rostock with a teaching position for epidemiology .
