Ernst Pasqué

Ernst Heinrich Anton Pasqué (born September 3, 1821 in Cologne , † March 20, 1892 in Alsbach an der Bergstrasse) was a German opera singer ( baritone ), opera director , theater director , writer and librettist .

Life

When he was barely 17, he decided to have his voice trained. At the instigation of Daniel-François-Esprit Auber , he was accepted at the Paris Conservatory . There he was a student of the tenor Louis Antoine Ponchard .

On May 4, 1844, he made his debut as a "hunter" in the night camp in Mainz.

He came to the Grand Ducal Court Theater in Darmstadt as a baritone in 1845 . From 1846 to 1847 he worked in Leipzig, but then returned to Darmstadt.

In the summer of 1855 he was director of the Deutsche Oper in Amsterdam, and from 1856 to 1859 he was an opera director in Weimar.

After illness and the loss of his voice, he became an economics inspector in Darmstadt in 1859. In addition to music-related literature, his main work “History of Music and Theater at the Court of Darmstadt”, he also wrote short stories and the libretto for Abert's opera Astorga .
