Ernst Peter Fischer (diplomat)

Ernst Peter Fischer is a German diplomat . He has been Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates since July 2018 .

Life

Fischer studied history and political science at the Free University of Berlin and, with a Fulbright scholarship , political science and international relations at Georgetown University in the USA . He also studied at the IEP in Paris with a DAAD scholarship .

He joined the Foreign Service in 1986 .

In the foreign service he worked in the embassies in Washington , Tel Aviv , London , Shanghai and Singapore . In addition, he worked for some time in the office of the Federal President for foreign policy , worked for a year in the British Foreign Ministry on EU expansion and worked for several months as a liaison officer at the French Ministry for European Affairs.

Until mid-2018, Fischer was the Federal Foreign Office's representative for energy and climate policy and export control. In July 2018 he took up the post of Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates .
