Ernst Wrede

Ernst August Wrede (born June 27, 1914 in Bremen ; † February 25, 2008 in Munich ) was a German manager and association official .

Life

After graduating from high school in Gelsenkirchen in 1932 , Wrede studied economics at the Georg-August University in Göttingen and at the Technical University of Munich . He graduated in 1938 as a graduate in business administration and was in 1939 with the thesis The recent American income statement for Dr. rer. tech. PhD. During his studies, Wrede became a member of the Brunsviga Göttingen fraternity in 1932 and of the Danubia Munich fraternity in 1933 .

In 1939 he joined the company Friedrich Merk Telefonbau GmbH in Munich . Between 1954 and 1985 he was its managing director , from 1986 a member of the board .

On November 1, 1939 he became a member of the NSDAP ( membership number 7,269,179).

From 1977 to 1985, Wrede was chairman of the board of the Bavarian regional office of the Central Association of the Electrical and Electronics Industry (ZVEI) and president of the Bavarian employers' association. From 2001 to 2005 he was the namesake and financier of the Dr. Ernst Wrede scholarship of the Association of the Bavarian Metal and Electrical Industry (VBM) for the student exchange with the USA with the aim of a stronger international orientation of the engineering education.

From 1976 to 1993 he was a member of the Bavarian Senate . From 1980 to 1993 he was represented on the Presidium of the Senate. Most recently he was 1st Vice President. As a staunch European, he was Vice President of the Europa-Union Bayern.

Wrede was married and had two children. He lived in Grünwald near Munich.
