Ernst von Bodelschwingh (born September 8, 1906 in Gadderbaum - Bethel , today Bielefeld , † April 2, 1993 in Bielefeld) was a German CDU politician .

Life and work

Ernst von Bodelschwingh was a son of the Protestant pastor Wilhelm von Bodelschwingh and his wife Luise von Bodelschwingh as well as a grandson of Friedrich von Bodelschwingh the Elder , the founder of the v. Bodelschwingh Foundation Bethel . He attended the humanistic high school in Bielefeld, which he graduated from high school in 1927. He then completed an agricultural apprenticeship and studied agriculture in Bonn , Zurich and Königsberg from 1929 to 1932 . After the state examination in 1932, he worked in agriculture and forestry in Westphalia , Hesse , Neumark and East Prussia . In 1938 he took over the management of the family estate "Gut Haus Velmede" in Weddinghofen , now part of the city of Bergkamen .

Political party

Bodelschwingh joined the CDU in 1948 .

MP

Bodelschwingh was a member of the Weddinghofen community council and the district council in the Unna district . He was a member of the German Bundestag from 1953 to 1965, where he represented the constituency of Unna - Hamm .
