Erwin Berner

Erwin Berner , actually Erwin Strittmatter , (* 1953 in East Berlin ) is a German author and actor .

life and work

Erwin Berner is the oldest of three sons of the writer couple Eva and Erwin Strittmatter . At the age of 18, he dropped out of the advanced secondary school in Rheinsberg against his father's will . He left his home at Schulzenhof in Brandenburg , where the family had lived since 1954, next to the city apartment in Berlin's Stalinallee , "his father played the farmer and family patriarch and his mother pursued her lifelong dreams".

He went to the Rostock State Drama School . At this time he took the stage name Erwin Berner - based on the maiden name of his great-grandmother - in order to be able to live and work unencumbered. During his acting studies in 1972, he played a leading role in Faces in Twilight , a film from the Polizeiruf 110 series , alongside Horst Drinda , before he worked on theaters in Freiberg, Weimar, Rudolstadt and Neustrelitz, especially in television productions of the German television station (DFF ) played along.

Today, Berner is mainly active as a poet and author, but occasionally also works as an actor for film and television productions. After his father's death in 1994, he publicly acknowledged his origins, which he had kept a secret for almost 30 years.
