Erwin Carl Wilhelm Günther , also in the spelling Günter (born June 14, 1864 in Hamburg , † 1927 in Düsseldorf ), was a German landscape and marine painter from the Düsseldorf School .

Günther studied painting at the Düsseldorf Art Academy . There was Olof Jernberg his teacher. In Düsseldorf, where he became a member of the artists' association Malkasten , he established himself as a marine painter. He made numerous trips in Europe, from 1890 to the Netherlands, also to Egypt and other countries in Africa. Since 1891 he was represented at exhibitions in the Munich Glass Palace and since 1893 at the Great Berlin Art Exhibition . He made large decorative wall paintings for the German shipping pavilion at the Paris World Exhibition in 1900 .
