Erwin Friedrich Haussler , some sources also Haussler , (* 7. March 1909 in Stuttgart , † 11. January 1981 ) was a Catholic lay functionary and German politician of the CDU .

Life and work

Häussler, who was a Roman Catholic , learned the profession of typesetter after primary school . After attending the machine setter school , he became a machinist and machine setter . From 1930 to 1936 he was diocesan secretary of the Catholic youth in Württemberg and regional leader of the Swabian storm troop . He worked as an editor for the Catholic magazines Jungschwaben and Schwäbisches Jungland . From 1933 to 1946 he was chairman of the Catholic youth in Stuttgart. During the time of National Socialism , he was interrogated several times by the Gestapo and his house was searched. From 1939 to 1945 he did military service.

In 1945 Häussler took part in the founding of the Catholic Men's Work in the Diocese of Rottenburg , of which he became the Württemberg regional director in 1946 (until 1975). In the same year he became state representative of the Catholic young team and first chairman of the DJK in Württemberg. In 1947 he was a co-founder of the Württemberg regional association of the Catholic Werkvolks , the Rottenburg diocese settlement agency and the Mein Heim settlement cooperative , of which he became chairman of the supervisory board. In 1951 he became chairman of the Working Group of Catholic Organizations and Associations of Württemberg and thus one of the most influential Catholic lay people in this state. A year later he also became a member of the board of trustees of the Hohenheim Catholic Academy . The twelve-time father became chairman of the German Family Association of Baden-Württemberg in 1956 and of the Family Association of German Catholics of Württemberg in 1957 . In 1966 he became chairman of the Cartel Association of the Catholic Workers' Movement and state director of the Catholic Men's Work in Württemberg.

Political party

Häussler had been a member of the state board of the CDU in North Württemberg since 1951 , and since 1963 he was deputy state chairman. He headed the social policy committee of the regional association and was also deputy chairman of the CDU social committee .

MP

Häussler was a member of the Stuttgart City Council from 1946 to 1953. He was a member of the state parliament in Baden-Württemberg from 1952 to 1956 , after having been a member of the state constituent assembly in 1952.

Häussler was a member of the German Bundestag from 1953 to 1961 and again from April 20, 1964, when he replaced Rudolf Vogel , until 1972, where he represented the constituency of Stuttgart II. From 1965 to 1969 he was deputy chairman of the Bundestag Committee on Federal Assets. His son-in-law Roland Sauer was also a member of the Bundestag for the constituency 192 Stuttgart II from 1980 to 1998.

Honors

In 1972 Häussler was awarded the Great Cross of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany. In Stuttgart- Neugereut , the Erwin-Häussler-Weg is named after him.
