In 1920 he, like many other domain tenants, lost his royal domain at Schloss Birglau at the direction of the Polish government and took over the lease of the Hermannshof estate at Preußisch Stargard in Pomerania.
Immediately after the war, faced with the choice of giving up German or Polish citizenship , he decided to give up German citizenship in order to be able to support the German minority in Poland . Since 1918 he was a member of the ethnic group leadership . From 1920 to 1922 he was the leader of the German parliamentary group in the Sejm and from 1922 to 1930 a member of the Polish Senate . In the course of his political career, he was repeatedly at the center of the German-Polish tensions of the interwar period .
Since October 18, 1939, Hasbach was an honorary holder of the NSDAP's golden party badge .
At the end of the Second World War , Hasbach fled and was arrested in Mecklenburg. Several years later he fled to the Federal Republic, where he lived as "Chairman of West Prussia in Baden-Württemberg" in Weingartshof near Ravensburg .
