Erwin Lotter

Erwin Georg Lotter (born February 8, 1951 in Munich ; † October 7, 2014 in Aichach ) was a German politician ( FDP ).

Life and work

Lotter was born in 1951 as the youngest of three siblings. After graduating from the humanistic Ludwigsgymnasium in Munich in 1970, he studied human medicine in Ulm and Munich for six years . In 1977 he received his license to practice medicine, then he worked as a medical officer in the Bundeswehr . From 1979 to 1986 he was the general practitioner and psychotherapist educate and worked since 1986 in Aichach near Augsburg in a group practice .

Since the end of 2011, Lotter had suffered from idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis , a lung disease that forced him to carry an oxygen machine with him at all times. On October 7, 2014, he died in a Munich hospital at the age of 63 as a result of the illness.

Lotter was married with three grown children and a young grandson during his lifetime.

Political party

In 1995 Erwin Lotter joined the FDP. Since 1995 he has been the deputy chairman of Aichach. From 1997 to 2008 he was district chairman of the Aichach-Friedberg district, and since 2008 he has been deputy district chairman. Since 2005 Lotter has been deputy chairman of the FDP district association Swabia .

Lotter was the founder and chairman of the FDP-affiliated Association of Liberal Doctors, founded on July 8, 2009 in Augsburg. V. (VLÄ).

In the internal party dispute over the "euro rescue package" ESM, he suggested that the dispute should be resolved in discussion forums - instead of in the controversial member survey. Public offices

Lotter has been a city councilor for the city of Aichach since 2002, from 2002 to 2008 he was a school clerk and since 2008 a cultural clerk. Since 2008 he has been a district councilor in the district council of the Aichach-Friedberg district.

On November 1, 2008, Erwin Lotter succeeded Martin Zeil , who had left the German Bundestag. There he was a member of the Committee for Labor and Social Affairs . In the 2009 federal election Lotter moved again to the Bundestag and sat since the Committee on Health and was a deputy member of the Committee on Labor and Social Affairs . His constituency was Augsburg-Land . Due to his illness, he did not run for the 2013 federal election.

Positions

Erwin Lotter was for the introduction of reimbursement in the statutory health insurance, for increased prevention and reduction of discrimination against HIV-infected patients and for the introduction of nutrition courses for parents of overweight children. Erwin Lotter campaigned for two-bed rooms for legally insured patients and for the parents' driving license. He advocated the abolition of the practice fee and the stop of the electronic health card as well as the establishment of a central contact point after numerous state authorities and private institutions had publicly discussed the distribution of competencies in the fight against the wave of infections.

As deputy chairman of the German-Greek parliamentary group, he was the first coalition politician to call for Greece to reschedule debt.
