features

In both sexes, the abdomen measures around 16 millimeters and is mostly dark brown; only the bottom of the first three segments is yellow, as is the top of the first segment. On both sides there is also a dark-yellow band that extends from the first to the tenth segment and is interrupted at the segment transitions. On the upper side of the second and at the rear end of the third segment there are red marks in the males and orange in the females. The shape of the abdomen in the males in the area of the first three segments resembles a hand spindle , then the abdomen narrows in order to widen again towards the tip. In the females, the abdomen is more uniform. The males' dark yellow abdominal appendages measure 1.2 millimeters. Seen from above, they slowly taper towards the tip, with the lower appendix being strongly concave . The genitals of the males are on the second segment and are yellow.

The trunk is yellow, with the prothorax pale yellow and the synthorax orange-yellow to reddish. In females, the red of the Synthorax turns into fire red and is more pronounced. The legs are dark red, with the thigh ring (trochanter) being lighter. On the foremost pair of legs, the insides of the thighs are yellowish. Except for a golden yellow spot at the base, the wings are transparent. Like the membranes, the 2.5 to 3 millimeter long wing mark is light brown. The wings of the front pair measure 21-22 mm × 5.5 mm in the males and 20 mm × 5.5 mm in the females; the rear wings are slightly wider and a good millimeter shorter.

On the face the males are colored rust-red in the area of the lower lip , in the area of the upper lip , the head shield , the forehead , the crown and the back of the head are dark red-red. On the forehead and on the top of the head there is a metallic blue to purple shimmer. Two variants have been described in females. In the first variant, the coloring follows that of the males. In the second variant, the forehead and the crown are blackish blue-metallic in color. The rest is dark brown with the exception of the anteclypeus.
